one baby, two adults, three airlines, two days, 8,000 miles, 10 hours in flight, 3 hours in 4 airports, 2 hours in the car, 26 hours in Washington, 48 hours on the nose. two trams, one rental car, a 9-month old in the confines of a 737 riding on 5 hours of sleep and a beautiful bride bedazzling a charming groom in a house with one baby, 2 dogs, 1 kitten, a baby bobcat, and some fish.
The phone call came last Saturday that my little girl was getting married and nothing would do but to be there to spend this special day with her and her chosen groom, and to see their beautiful little man Ayden.
We were up at 3 a.m., and flew out of BWI at 6, to Detroit, Michigan, where we ate at a hockey bar, then on to Seattle, where we got to see Courtney for the first time in 2 1/2 years. It was a fast trip with us leaving Seattle just 26 hours after we landed, flying to Atlanta before making it back to Maryland, but it was all more than well worth it to get to be there for Courtney and Brian's big day.
Then, the suprise of my life, and getting asked to walk my girl down the aisle. I asked Courtney Turnage once what she needed, and she told me a dad, and thus, I have been ever since. So on her wedding day, I delivered to her my legacy, my sword, engraved with "A inion, mo chroi," my darling daughter.
